New Martial Arts Partnership Benefits Central Bucks youth

New Martial Arts partnership offers karate opportunities for youth and adults in Central, Upper Bucks Counties

(Doylestown, PA) Central Bucks Family YMCA and Bucks County Karate School have partnered to offer outstanding martial arts programs for youth and adults in Central and Upper Bucks Counties.
The Y has long offered martial arts programs under the direction of Sensei Stacy Pursell Jr. and his wife Sensei Jennefer Pursell. At the end of 2014, the Pursell’s opened their own dojo in Perkasie, naming it Bucks County Karate School.

Recognizing the value of offering programs at both locations, the Y and the Pursell’s formed a partnership with Pursell’s teaching lessons in both Doylestown and Perkasie. Both programs offer traditional Shotokan karate classes for youth over age 4, teens, adults and families. Private lessons are also available. Both locations host Bring a Friend or Buddy Week, where current members and participants can bring their friends to the classes for a chance to experience the dojo atmosphere first-hand, and free trial classes as well.

But now, participants in the Y karate program are members of the American Japanese Karate Association, an international organization with headquarters in Buckingham that will ensure continuity of curriculum and instructor accountability. Y students will also benefit from additional opportunities to test and order martial arts equipment and uniforms as well as guest instructors, special events, seminars and tournament opportunities.
On February 9, eleven students from both locations competed together at the AJKA-I Karate Tournament hosted by The Solebury Club at New Hope-Solebury High School.
