Publishers Weekly, in a starred review about the new title, said "The Warden's Daughter" is a "poignant, coming of age story...Spinelli again shows his mastery at evoking a particular time and place while delving into the heart of a troubled adolescent, creating an evocative backdrop through the sounds of early rock and roll, the smell of frying scrapple, and the sights of children freely roaming their neighborhoods."

Warwick Elementary School is located at 1340 Almshouse Road, Jamison.

Spinelli has authored more than 30 children's books, including the Newbery Award winner, "Maniac Magee."
