Officers Commended For Life-Saving Actions In New Britain Twp.
On Sept. 27, Officers O'Connor and Sacks "acted swiftly to save the life" of a man suffering from self-inflicted wounds.

NEW BRITAIN TOWNSHIP, PA — The New Britain Township Board of Supervisors at its October meeting presented Police Officers Bryce O’Connor and Daniel Sacks with a citation of commendation for saving the life of a suicidal man.
On Sept. 27, Officers O'Connor and Sacks “acted swiftly to save the life” of a man suffering from self-inflicted wounds, said Police Chief Richard Clowser.
Officer O’Connor responded to Peace Valley Park for the report of a suicidal man who had reportedly cut himself.

According to the chief, upon arrival Officer O’Connor immediately began searching the wooded area and located the man approximately a quarter mile into the woods. The man was unresponsive and covered in blood.
Officer O’Connor said the officers assessed the injuries and applied a tourniquet to control the bleeding. Officer Sacks arrived and applied pressure to a puncture wound on the neck while assisting Officer O’Connor in carrying the man uphill through the woods back to a paved trail to awaiting paramedics.

“If not for their quick response, teamwork, and care for the preservation of life, the subject would have bleed to death,” said Chief Clowser.
“These officers were able to use their training, experience and ‘don’t quit’ attitude to stop the bleeding and quickly get him to medical care,” said the chief.
