One Dead After Car Crash, Explosion At Bucks County Pool Store

One person is dead after an early-morning car crash that ended in an explosion at a Bucks County pool supply store.

RICHLAND TOWNSHIP, PA — One person is dead after an early-morning car crash Friday that ended in an explosion at a Bucks County pool supply store on Rt. 309 in Richland Township, Pennsylvania State Police said. As many as 100 firefighters reportedly were on the scene to fight the blaze, which lasted hours.

NBC10 posted footage of the aftermath of the crash and explosion, which shows the Pool Pro store charred. The driver of the car was killed in the crash, which happened around 1:45 a.m., police said.

Police said the car crossed three lanes of the road and slammed into the store. A fire and explosion followed. NBC10 reports the residents from nearby apartments were able to escape.

The crash closed Rt. 309 in both directions for nearly four hours, 6ABC reported.

The identity of the driver who died has not yet been released, but police said the car involved was a Dodge Charger.
