Our Lady of Guadalupe Parishioners Donate More Than $31K to Haiti.
This Buckingham Catholic Parish has been providing support to a local parish and school in Haiti for many years.
In late February 2026, Father Anaclet, Provincial for the Congregation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Priests, from Bois de Laurence, Haiti, traveled to Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Buckingham PA to speak to the parishioners during all weekend Masses. Through a special collection, parishioners donated over $31K to support the local school and parish in Haiti. The money will be used for student scholarships, teacher salaries, nutritious school lunches, school and parish enhancements and healthcare. Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish has been helping support St. Anne’s Parish and St. Jean Bosco School in Haiti through donations, building the school’s infrastructure, a water system for the town, mission trips and prayers for many years. Recent donations from Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish enabled the school to extend its school enrollment (which formerly ended in middle school) through 12th grade.
“The need in Haiti is tremendous. We have built a wonderful relationship with the priests, the parish and the school in Haiti,” says Monsignor Joseph P. Gentili, pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe Roman Catholic Church in Buckingham PA. “The generosity of our parishioners is incredible; and I am humbled to be their pastor.”
The Ecole Presbytérale Saint Jean Bosco School was founded in 1974 by Father Augustin Vrecko, a Salesian priest. Today the school services the Catholic community of Bois de Laurence and is run by the current pastor a member of the Congregation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (CICM), of St. Anne’s parish. The school enrolls over 700 students in grades Kindergarten through 12th grade.

The dedicated children, teachers and staff can walk up to four hours each way every school day to attend or teach class and many also attend Sunday service at one of the three sites serviced by St. Anne’s. Many of the teachers also teach religious education on Saturday mornings for the children in the local communities. The biggest need of the Saint Jean Bosco School is continuous funding of teachers in order to maintain a high quality education.
