Evacuation Order Lifted, Ferry Road Reopens Following Truck Crash

DOYLESTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Ferry Road, Old Iron Hill Road, and other nearby roadways have reopened to traffic, according to the Doylestown Township Police Department.

An evacuation order for residents living near Ferry Road and Old Iron Hill Road has been lifted, Doylestown Township Police said Monday evening.

"It is now safe for all displaced residents to return to their homes. Please be advised that northbound and southbound traffic on Ferry Road from Limekiln Road to Old Iron Hill Road will remain closed for the time being," police said. Traffic on Old Iron Hill Road, as well as Keeley Avenue from Lamp Post Road to Mistic View Circle will still be limited as well.

Residents living near Ferry Road and Old Iron Hill Road are advised to evacuate after a propane truck overturned this morning creating a hazardous situation in the area, Doylestown Township Police said.

Police said late Monday afternoon that the incident is still ongoing and that authorities estimate that the situation will remain the same at least until 8 p.m. Monday.

At this time all northbound and southbound traffic on Ferry Road from Limekiln Road to Old Iron Hill Road is closed.

Additionally, traffic is limited on Old Iron Hill Road/ Keeley Avenue from Lamp Post Road to Mystic View Circle. Residents who reside in the neighborhoods off of Old Iron Hill Road will be allowed to their respective residences.

All residents who should be evacuated from their residences have been contacted in person by a representative of the police department.

The evacuation area extends in a 2,000-foot radius around the incident scene, according to police.

"Your safety is our top priority and we appreciate your cooperation in this emergency. Please share this information with your neighbors, friends, and family in the affected area. Your swift and safe evacuation is crucial to ensuring the well-being of our community," police said.

Doylestown Fire Company No. 1 and Chalfont Fire Company are on the scene. Also at the scene are the Hilltown Township Volunteer Fire Company, Dublin Volunteer Fire Company, and the Point Pleasant Vol. Fire Co.

The propane truck overturned earlier this morning in the area of Ferry Road and Old Iron Hill Road landing on its side on an embankment.
