Painter Stole Guns From Buckingham Twp Customer: Police

An employee of a local painting company has been charged with stealing firearms and other items from a Buckingham customer, police said.

A Newtown man and employee of a local painting company has been arrested for stealing items, including firearms, while working for a customer in Buckingham Township, police announced Tuesday.

Philip Abruzzese, 32, has been charged by Buckingham Township Police with theft by unlawful taking, theft of a firearm and receiving stolen property. Police said there are open theft investigations in Newtown Township and Plymouth Township, Montgomery County in which Abruzzese is a suspect.

Abruzzese, an employee of Abruzzese Painting, gained access to the victim's home while working for the painting company, authorities said.

Buckingham Township Police said he has admitted to the thefts and provided authorities with a statement detailing the items taken, which include firearms, lawn equipment, chainsaws, gas trimmers, tools and circular saws.

Some of the stolen items have been recovered, authorities said.

Police believe the items were taken between September 2017 up until March 28.

Bail was set at $50,000, which Abruzzese posted. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 7.
