Peddler's Village Takes Cross-Country Trip Across America With "Sights In Sand"

Created to honor the nation's 250th birthday, "Sights in Sand: An American Road Trip" will be on view throughout the summer.

LAHASKA, PA — Peddler's Village is celebrating the nation's 250th birthday with an "American Road Trip" featuring a summer-long display of giant sand sculptures.

"Sights In Sand: An American Road Trip," invites visitors to experience a cross-country journey in sand with a display of magnificent sculptures created by two world-renowned master sand sculpting teams: Team Sandtastic and John Gowdy and his wife Laura Cimador-Gowdy.

The village-wide display opens this week and continues though the end of August.

Each sculpture is dedicated to a region of the U.S. —Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, Southwest, and West—and collages on each depict regional sights such as the Statue of Liberty, Kennedy Space Center, Mount Rushmore, Route 66, and the Golden Gate Bridge, among others, as well as animals, architecture, and American history scenes.

During the summer-long display, guests can pick up a “Road Trip Map” from the Visitor & Event Center to begin a self-guided educational scavenger hunt. Children who complete the scavenger hunt will receive a prize.

Guests 18 years or older are also invited to enter an overnight stay giveaway that includes a one-night stay at the Golden Plough Inn, the on-property inn at Peddler’s Village, breakfast for two, a $150 dining gift card, and passes to Mercer Museum as well as two history books: Hidden History of Bucks County by Jen Rogers and the Historic Sites and Bites Cookbook (from the Washington Crossing Historic Park gift shop). Each package is valued at approximately $500.

One prize will be awarded each month in June, July, and August. Online entries for the giveaways through PeddlersVillage.com will also be available beginning June 1.

"Sights in Sand: An American Road Trip" will also include several sandboxes designed for play.

The display is funded in part by the Bucks County Tourism Grant Program. Sponsors of Sights in Sand include six Peddler’s Village shops: The Celtic Rose, Extra Virgin, Fox & Holly, The Lucky Cupcake Company, Nina’s Waffles and Ice Cream, and Pieces.

Peddler’s Village will be open every day this summer. Details about Sights in Sand will be shared on PeddlersVillage.com and on Peddler’s Village Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok accounts.

In addition to the sand-themed activities, Peddler’s Village will present many free, family-friendly events this summere including:

  • First Fridays at Village Restaurants through September 4. Dining guests can enjoy special dining promotions at select restaurants on the first Friday of every month through September.
  • Bucks Fever Tunes at Noon every Fridays through August 28 from 12 to 1 p.m. Grab a bite to eat from one of the many restaurants and eateries and enjoy live music on the Village Green; presented in partnership with the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce.
  • Bucks Fever Art & Sculpture Exhibition from June 19 through July 19. The exhibition, presented in partnership with the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce, will feature a wide range of artistic styles and prize-winning pieces, many of which will be for sale. Free admission. Open daily during shopping hours at the Visitor & Event Center.
  • Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival presents "As You Like It" at 12 p.m. on June 6. As part of its inaugural “Play On!” community touring program, the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival (PSF) presents Shakespeare’s most delightful comedy filled with wit, poetry, and music. Free admission.
  • Red, White, and Blueberries BBQ Bash from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on July 4. Celebrate the Fourth of July at Peddler’s Village! The Red, White, and Blueberries BBQ Bash takes place on Saturday, July 4 and will feature live entertainment, family activities, a watermelon-eating contest, and blueberry-themed barbeque favorites. Free admission (with pay-as-you-go food).
  • Santa’s Summer Holiday from July 24 through July 26. Santa is returning to Peddler’s Village for his second consecutive summer vacation! Santa and Mrs. Claus will be making special appearances throughout Peddler’s Village during their holiday. Guests will have the opportunity to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus as well as enjoy special photo opportunities and events including a Food Truck Friday event on Friday, July 24, and breakfast with Santa at Buttonwood Grill and lunch at Giggleberry Fair on Saturday, July 25. Additional details will be shared on the Peddler’s Village website and social media pages.
  • Peach Festival from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on August 1 and 2. This year’s annual Peach Festival welcomes The Peach Truck as a sponsor. Festival-goers will also have the opportunity to purchase fresh Georgia peaches directly from the truck during the event. Plus, guests can enjoy live entertainment, family activities, outdoor food and drinks, peach-themed specials and treats, a sidewalk sale, in-store specials, and more. All month long, Village guests can enjoy peach-inspired food and drink specials at restaurants, eateries, and tasting rooms. Free admission.
