Penn Community Bank Completes 5-Year Pledge to Pennridge FISH

Bucks County's leading independent, mutual financial institution donated $25,000 over five years to support Perkasie-based nonprofit

PERKASIE, Pa. (May 2017) – Pennridge-area families in need can turn to Pennridge FISH for assistance, thanks in part to Penn Community Bank and other area businesses and individuals that supported the nonprofit’s capital campaign to purchase a new building.

Penn Community Bank pledged $25,000 over five years to Pennridge FISH after the organization learned in 2012 that it would need to find a new home. The bank recently made its final donation of $5,000 to the nonprofit charitable organization, which provides food and clothing to those in need in the Pennridge School District.

The capital campaign raised $331,606 – enough to purchase FISH’s new building at 800 W. Chestnut Street, Perkasie, and repave the parking lot.

“We are grateful to everyone who made it possible for FISH to continue to serve our neighbors in need,” said Harry Tucker, President of Pennridge FISH. “Penn Community Bank has been a generous community partner over the years, and we are thankful for their continued support.”

Staffed mostly by volunteers, Pennridge FISH – which stands for Fellowship in Serving Humanity – maintains a food pantry and clothing outlet. Items and money are donated by local churches, businesses, social organizations and individuals and distributed to those in need. Until 2012, it was based in a warehouse on Fifth Street on loan from Perkasie Borough. When that building was set to be sold, FISH had to find a new home or face closure. The organization launched a fundraising campaign, and Penn Community Bank’s predecessor was one of its first supporters.

In August 2013, Pennridge FISH moved into its new, larger, more modern home at 800 W. Chestnut. Today, it serves more than 650 economically challenged families in the Pennridge School District with food, clothing and one-time emergency financial assistance for necessary utility bills. FISH is staffed by one part-time paid administrator and more than 160 volunteers. To learn more, visit https://pennridgefish.org/.
