Pharmacy to Open Inside Doylestown Hospital in June

The pharmacy, to be located off the hospital's North Lobby, will be operated by Cowhey family, owners of ShopRite in Warminster.

A ShopRite pharmacy will open in Doylestown Hospital later this spring. According to hospital officials, the full-service pharmacy will be open seven days a week starting in June.

The pharmacy, to be located off the hospital’s North Lobby, will be operated by Cowhey family, owners of ShopRite in Warminster. It will be the first of its kind in a Pennsylvania hospital.

The ShopRite pharmacy at Doylestown Hospital will carry prescription and over-the-counter medications. Patients treated by physicians in the medical office building connected to the hospital can have prescriptions filled before leaving the hospital campus.

“We are looking forward to working with the hospital to make access to medications and medical supplies convenient for all patients,” said Joe Cowhey, president of the Cowhey Family Supermarket in Warminster. “We will explore new ways of delivering service, such as bringing medications to a patient’s bedside before discharge from the hospital or Emergency Department so the patient can return home without a detour to a pharmacy.”

Scott S. Levy, vice president and chief medical officer of Doylestown Hospital said the in-hospital pharmacy will help patients. “The addition of the retail pharmacy on the hospital campus builds on a partnership that is founded on excellence in service,” he said.
