Philadelphia Man Charged With Retail Theft In Warrington

The arrest was made after a police officer on patrol at the center observed the man and juvenile steal merchandise from a beauty store.

WARRINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — A 31-year-old Philadelphia man has been charged with retail theft and other offenses after he and a minor were observed acting suspiciously at the Valley Square Shopping Center.

A police officer, who was on patrol at the shopping center, observed the man, who was wearing a face mask, and a juvenile enter the Ulta store. Both were seen carrying two empty backpacks, police said. They then exited the store a short time later. The man was no longer wearing a mask and the juvenile was carrying a backpack which appeared to be fuller than when they entered the store.

Police said employee flagged down the police officer and indicated that the two had just stolen merchandise from the store.

The officer approached the two and the man provided a false name and date of birth. Employees at Ulta related that the two did not purchase any merchandise. Inside the backpack were two flat irons valued at $289.99.

The man was placed under arrest and the juvenile was released to a family member.

The man was transported to the station where he was processed and arraigned on the following charges: corruption of minors, retail theft, receiving stolen property and providing false identification to a law enforcement officer.

Judge Wertman set bail at $150,000 or 10 percent cash. The man was unable to post bail and was transported to Bucks County Correctional Facility.

According to police, the man also had several warrants from Bucks County, Montgomery County, and Philadelphia County.
