Pineville Tavern Giving Free Chicken To Gov't Workers In Shutdown

Bucks County's Pineville Tavern has stepped up to offer free chicken dinners to government workers during the federal shutdown.

PINEVILLE, PA — Another local eatery has stepped up to help government workers who are not receiving a paycheck due to the ongoing shutdown. The Pineville Tavern in Bucks County, as well as the Pineville Fishtown in Philadelphia announced Friday it will be offering free chicken dinners to federal workers until the shutdown is resolved.

The offer is good for any U.S. employees and their immediate families every night of the week, and federal employees can take advantage of this offer as often as they’d like, according to restaurant representatives.

“We’ve been watching the news every day since this political game of chicken began on December 22, 2018, and we just can’t sit back and watch anymore,” said Chef Drew Abruzzese. “We feel that our incredibly popular pickle-brined fried chicken is the ultimate comfort food, and when we saw the news that federal employees wouldn’t be receiving their paychecks today, we decided that we had to take action to help the local park rangers, postal employees, TSA officers and other U.S. government personnel who need help making ends meet during this crisis. We’re committed to offering this supplement until the democrats and republicans put an end to the impasse.”

Government employees looking to take advantage of this offer just need to show their federal identification to Pineville servers or bartenders upon arrival at either restaurant, and any fried chicken, including chicken tenders for kids, will be omitted from their check. Soft drinks will be complimentary, as well. This initiative is for dine-in only.

“We’ve been in the restaurant business for 30 years, and supporting the communities that we operate in has been the foundation of our core values since I purchased The Pineville Tavern in 1989,” said owner Andrew Abruzzese. “We can’t sit back and let our friends, neighbors and loyal customers continue to struggle as this stalemate continues. We’re honored to have the opportunity to help distressed Americans feed their families. Most Americans can’t imagine missing a paycheck, and we’ve decided to do this as long as hard-working U.S. government employees need our help.”
