CHALFONT, PA — A week after Barstool Sports founder David Portnoy surprised a Doylestown pizzeria with one of his famous impromptu "One Bite" sidewalk pizza reviews, he was back in Bucks County, drawn by the pizza.

Standing outside Peppino's Tomato Pies and South Philly Style Sandwiches at 449 West Butler Avenue, the nationally-known pizza critic took a bite of the pizzeria's tomato-style pie.

"A lot of people here for the cheesesteaks and grinders. We're here for the pizza," says Portnoy, as the video rolled on his "One Bite" app. "I generally love the tomato style because it's so crunchy. This doesn't look like it's going to be wildly crunchy to me. Good undercarriage.

"Good," said 'El Presidente' after taking several more bites. "I do love tomato style. I really like it. A little messy. I give it a 7.8," he says. "It's really good. I'd come back. A little sloppy, but I really do like it. It's a solid, really good start for this journey."

This was Portnoy's second "One Bite" pizza reviews in two weeks in Central Bucks. And at both stops, first at Lucatelli's at the Mercer Square Shopping Center in Doylestown and now at Peppino's in Chalfont, he give out a score of 7.8.

"So honored and humbled to have #stoolpresidente the one and only David Portnoy come to our pizza shop," wrote Peppino's owners Eddie and Keeley on Facebook. "One of the greatest days of our lives and super excited to get a 7.8!!! Great review and just a super fun time ... Thank you Dave Portnoy for choosing Peppino's Tomato Pies!!! We can't thank you enough. Feeling humbled and honored."

Portnoy's pizza reviews have garnered a cult following. He'll visit a pizzeria or restaurant - sometimes unannounced - try a pie and score it on a 0-10 scale. His video reviews receive hundreds of thousands of views, and the highest-rated pizzerias often get swarmed by fellow pizza lovers in the days after a review is posted to social media.

Portnoy’s reviews, which are sent out to 2.9 million Twitter followers and another four million on Instagram, have been know to make or break local pizzerias.

After the videos were posted of both Bucks County stops, the local pizzerias reported a surge in business, both having to close early on several days after running out of dough.
