Plumstead Police Investigate Numerous Incidents Of Fraud
In other reports, police cited vagrant with public intoxication, file charges against drivers for marijuana violations.
PLUMSTEAD TOWNSHIP, PA — The Plumstead Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between August 20 and Sept. 1:
August 20
- At 11:45 a.m., a Plumstead resident stopped by the station to report a case of fraud. The resident told an officer that he wrote two checks and dropped them off at the post office earlier this month. He then received a call from his bank that they found his check being “sold” on the dark web. The resident closed the account. He then contacted the other bank and found that the second check was deposited under a different name than the original check was written too. The resident was defrauded out of more than $10,000 and was provided with a Victim's Right Packet.
August 22

- At 7:07 p.m., officers were dispatched to Patriots Ridge Drive for a suspicious person. A caller told police that a man was yelling and harassing kids. When officers arrived, they patrolled the area with negative results.
- At 11:21 p.m., officers were dispatched to Louise Saint Clarie Drive for a suspicious occurrence in progress. When officers arrived, they met with a resident who said that an unknown individual tried to open their glass sliding door. The officer checked the area with negative results.
August 24
- At 9:20 p.m., officers responded to Tall Cedar Court for a domestic in progress. When the officer arrived, they were met by the caller who said that his wife took his computer and wouldn’t return it. The officer informed both parties to separate for the night and the computer was returned.
August 27

- At 8:06 a.m., officers responded to North Easton Road for an unwanted person that was camping in a tent behind a business. Officers removed the tent and left a business card that said they are not allowed on the property.
- At 1:10 p.m., officers received a phone call from a Plumstead resident that his American Airline credit card was compromised. He stated that someone withdrew 25,000 miles and was able to provide the officers with their names. The case is under investigation.
- At 2:28 p.m., officers responded to a disorderly person on North Easton Road. Officers spoke with the complainant who stated a resident came into the office raising her voice about the property manager being on the resident’s property. Both parties were separated and no further action at this time.
August 28
- At 2:25 p.m., officers received a fraud complaint from a resident who was scammed out of $180 by an advertised Yorkie Dog Rescue Group. The victim was speaking with the “seller” using Facebook messenger. When the unnamed seller asked for additional funds she realized this was not a reputable rescue and communication stopped. No further action at this time.
August 30
- At 10:55 p.m., while conducting a traffic enforcement detail along Swamp Road, an officer performed a traffic stop for a vehicle violation. Police said the 33-year-old driver from Philadelphia presented with bloodshot, glassy eyes and lethargic movements. He admitted to marijuana being in the vehicle and turned it over to the officer. Charges were filed.
August 31
- At 2:20 a.m., officers were dispatched to Swamp Road for the report of a vagrant individual at a local business parking lot. Upon arrival officers spoke with a woman who was intoxicate and uncooperative. The 38-year-old Philadelphia woman was cited for public intoxication.
September 1
- At 12:40 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on North Easton Road. Police said the 50-year-old man from Easton presented with a strong odor of burnt marijuana. The driver consented to a vehicle search and admitted to having marijuana which was located inside the vehicle. Charges were filed.
