Plumstead Police Seize Suspected Cocaine, Investigate Fraud Complaints
Police also investigate theft of jewelry, stolen car keys at grocery store self-checkout kiosk.
PLUMSTEAD TOWNSHIP, PA — The Plumstead Township Police Department reported the following incidents between June 18 and 23:
June 18
- At 10:15 a.m., officers responded to Jacob Stout Road for the report of a theft. When the officers arrived they were met by the complainants who reported missing jewelry. They discovered the jewelry missing while preparing to move. The last time the jewelry was seen was approximately six months earlier, police said. The case is under investigation.

- At 4:20 p.m., a Plumstead resident filed a fraud report with the police. The resident told police that he had transferred $4500 voluntarily into Bitcoin and traded it through an app to an individual who he met online. The officer provided the resident with a victim's rights packet. The case is under investigation.
- At 6:34 p.m., officers received a theft report from the Giant on Swamp Road. A shopper told police that she set her keys down at the self-checkout and walked out without them. After discovering them missing, she returned to get them and they were gone. The woman reported it to the manager who viewed the surveillance camera and saw a man take the keys and walk out. The case is under investigation.
June 21
- At 1:51 p.m., officers responded to Dtown Guitars for a fraud report that had occurred on June 5. When the officers arrived, they were met by the complainant who said they were selling a guitar for $5300. When a customer attempted to purchase the guitar the card he provided was declined. The customer said that was a security feature on the card. The second time the transaction was tried, it went through but at a later date the complainant received notification the transaction was declined and payment was not finalized. Officers are reviewing surveillance footage. The case is under investigation.
June 22

- At 11:41 p.m. while officers were conducting a traffic detail on N. Easton Road, they saw a vehicle with an expired registration and conducted a traffic stop. As the officer was talking to the driver he noticed a clear baggie with a white powdery substance on the passenger seat. The suspected cocaine was seized. The case remains under investigation.
June 23
At 12:06 a.m., a Plumstead resident filed a fraud report with police. The resident informed officers that he works for Door Dash and received a message that night that he was “Top Dasher” and that he had to send his bank information over and send $500 through a cash app. The complainant realized it was fraud after they asked him to send another $500. The complainant froze the card after there was an unauthorized purchase. The complainant provided the officer with the phone numbers that were used during the transactions. The officer provided the complainant with a victim's right packet. The case is under investigation.
