Plumsteadville Village Welcomes Devil’s Half Acre in Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

The Devil's Half Acre Tavern is the latest business to open its doors in the up-and-coming Plumstead Township village

The Plumsteadville Village Business Alliance officially welcomed the Devil’s Half Acre Tavern to Plumsteadville Village at a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday, September 16, 2016. The ceremony was held at the restaurant, located at 5691 Easton Rd. Plumsteadville, PA 18949.

Plumstead Township Supervisor Stacy Mulholland officiated the ceremony. Devil’s Half Acre owners Nathan Hugill, Brian Hugill, and Andrea Hugill participated, with Nathan and Andrea’s son Jackson making the official ribbon cut with the ceremonial scissors.

Also on hand were members of the Plumsteadville Village Business Alliance Kathy Emmons, owner of Circa Classics Distinctive Consignments; Jennifer Malone, Plumsteadville Market Leader of Huntingdon Valley Bank; and, Eric Nitschke, marketing director for Plumsteadville Village Business Alliance.

Devil's Half Acre Tavern is the second restaurant by the Hugill Brothers and Robert Marchesano, creators of Maxwell's on Main in Doylestown Borough.

Andrea noted via email how they started their new venture in Plumsteadville Village.

“We were looking for a new opportunity, and came upon the Country Tavern,” she wrote. “We think Plumsteadville is a great location and has a lot of growth potential.”

She pointed the Plumsteadville Village Business Alliance as great partner in their future.

“In Doylestown, we have seen what a community/ business focused committee can accomplish, and we are so happy to see the same effort in Plumsteadville,” she wrote.

Members of the Plumsteadville Village Business Alliance were excited by the restaurant’s artistic design and delicious menu.

“The opening of this fantastic restaurant points to the great commerce and tourism potential here in Plumsteadville Village,” Nitschke noted.

According to 2015 US Census reports, the greatest population growth in the Philadelphia area between 2010 and 2015 was along Route 413 (Durham Road) through Bedminster, Plumstead and Wrightstown.

“The future of Bucks County runs right through Plumstead Township," Nitschke exclaimed about those Census reports.

“It’s an exciting time for Plumsteadville Village businesses!” Nitschke concluded. “We’re thrilled to have the Devil’s Half Acre as the southern-most gateway to Plumsteadville Village as visitors from Doylestown and beyond come to check out our unique gem in Bucks County.”
