Police Investigate Retail Thefts, De-escalate Argument In Plumstead
Police also responded to the report of a horse that had fallen into a pond and for a package stolen from a front porch.
PLUMSTEAD TOWNSHIP, PA — The Plumstead Township Police Department reported the following incidents between Jan. 22 and 25:
January 22
- At 1:23 p.m., officers responded to a call for property damage at the WAWA on Easton Road. The complainant stated when she exited the store her side mirror was smashed and broken. Officers are reviewing surveillance footage. The case remains under investigation.
January 23

- At 3:48 p.m., officers responded to the Giant on Swamp Road for a retail theft. When officers arrived, they met with a store employee who said that while watching a surveillance video from January 6 he observed a man at the self-checkout station fail to scan all items and exited the store without payment. The total for the unpaid merchandise was $48.28. The case is under investigation.
- At 6:05 p.m., a Plumstead resident entered the station to file a theft report. The complainant said that a package was removed from her front porch after receiving delivery confirmation. Ring camera footage was provided but police were unable to identify the person.
- At 8:14 p.m., officers responded to the Giant on Swamp Road for a retail theft. When officers arrived, they met with a complainant who stated that he had observed an individual scanning items. The complainant said the man failed to scan all his items, put them in the cart, and then exited the store. The total for the items was $17.99. The complainant was able to provide officers with pictures of the vehicle. Officers are reviewing surveillance footage. The case is under investigation.
January 25
- At 11:22 p.m., officers were dispatched to Durham Road for a domestic incident. When officers arrived, they met with both parties who said they had gotten into a verbal argument. Officers were able to de-escalate the situation and both individuals agreed to stay in separate rooms for the night.
- At 1:41 p.m., officers responded to the area of Stump Road for an animal complaint. The caller said that a horse had fallen into a pond. Before their arrival, the horse had made its way out of the pond.
