Police Make Retail Theft Arrest, Investigate Check Fraud In Plumstead

Police also arrest motorcyclist after striking officer in attempt to flee traffic stop.

PLUMSTEAD TOWNSHIP, PA — The Plumstead Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests from Sept.29 to Oct. 5:

Sept. 29

  • At 1:37 p.m., officers responded to Custom Elevator Manufacturing for a fraud complaint. The complainant said that a check written for $17,360 was cashed, but never received by the intended recipient. The complainant called the bank and was informed that the check must have been intercepted because the name on the check was changed. The case is under investigation.

  • At 4:02 p.m., officers spoke to a resident who said that someone had used his credit card for Door Dash in the amount of $200. The case is under investigation.
  • At 5:25 p.m., officers responded to the Dollar General store on Easton Road for a retail theft in progress. When officers arrived, they were met by a store representative who explained that a female customer left the store with several bags of unpaid merchandise, placed the bags in her vehicle, and then re-entered the store. When confronted by officers the woman initially denied stealing any items. When the driver allowed officers to check the car the officers found a bag of stolen merchandise. The officers placed the 33-year-old Doylestown woman under arrest for retail theft.

Oct. 3

  • At 10:02 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a black Honda Accord for an expired registration. Police said the driver was unable to provide any information on the vehicle and was driving on a suspended license. Officers observed a THC pen inside the vehicle and obtained consent to search. Subsequent to the search, officers located marijuana that had not been purchased from an authorized dispensary. The 22-year-old Doylestown man will be summoned to court to face charges of the possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

  • At 9:04 a.m., a Plumstead Township officer was stopped at a traffic light on Stump when he noticed a motorcycle driving erratically. The officer activated his emergency lights and exited his vehicle to speak to the driver. Police said the motorcyclist disregarded the officer’s hand motions to stop and attempted to maneuver around the officer. In doing so, the motorcycle hit the officer which resulted in a minor injury. After striking the officer, the driver attempted to flee the scene. The officer was able to place the operator, Nathan Godown, 18, of Perkasie, into custody. Godwin was processed and subsequently arraigned by Judge Maggie Snow. Godown’s bail was set at $10,000, unsecured.

Oct. 5

  • At 4:14 p.m., officers arrived in the area of Roseberry Drive for a property damage report. When the officers met with the complainant, they stated that someone sideswiped their car and damaged some Halloween decorations that were in their yard. The officers observed marks in the grass that were consistent with a dually truck. The damage was estimated at $50. Police have no suspects at this time.
