Police Mediate Road Rage Incident, Make DUI Arrest In Plumstead

Police also investigated a PayPal scam and a report of a hotel room squatter.

PLUMSTEAD TOWNSHIP, PA — The Plumstead Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between Nov. 15 and Dec. 2:

November 15

  • At 7:18 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Swamp Road on a red GMC that failed to stop at a red light. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of burnt marijuana. The driver handed over drug paraphernalia along with suspected marijuana, police said. Charges have been filed.

  • At 10:55 p.m., officers responded to the area of Summer Hill for a suspicious occurrence. Two people were walking when a man jumped out from behind a grey SUV and shouted, “I got you now.” Officers patrolled the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

November 22

  • At 7:35 p.m., officers responded to the Plumstead Square Shopping Center to meet a man about a road rage incident. When officers arrived, they met with the man who said that his daughter had just started driving and was in the turning lane when a vehicle came up behind them and started blaring its horn. Both vehicles pulled into the lot and the drivers exchanged some words. Officers were able to mediate the situation and no further action was taken.

  • At 9:33 a.m., officers responded to the Colonial Village Hotel for a suspicious occurrence. When officers arrived, they were told that an unknown person was occupying a room without payment. Police were told that when the hotel conducted normal room checks, the room was out of order and not how they had left it. Upon inspection officers noticed that one of the windows was unlocked and believe that’s how the individual gained access to the room. DNA swabs were taken from the scene and the incident remains under investigation.
  • At 6 p.m., officers received a phone call for a theft report. The complainant stated she received an email from what appeared to be her paypal account for a payment transfer of $1200. When the complainant contacted the number listed, she was asked to purchase gift cards in the amount of $5000, which she did. After realizing that she was being scammed, the complainant contacted her bank. She was provided a victims’ right packet and was informed of the fraud protection program. Officers also suggested contacting the FBI, through its fraud investigation site, to file a complaint.

December 2

  • At 2:19 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 611 bypass for a truck stopped in the roadway. When the officers arrived, they noticed significant damage to the vehicle and the operator was no longer on the scene. The officers ran the registration tag to find the owner of the vehicle. They spoke with the driver at his residence and in speaking with the operator, they noticed that he was unsteady on his feet and asked him to perform a field sobriety test after he admitted to drinking. The operator refused to perform the field sobriety test and lab testing. Jorge Fores-Meja, 30, of Doylestown, was placed under arrest for driving under the influence.
