BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Incumbent Republican Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick survived a primary challenge from anti-abortion activist Mark Houck on Tuesday setting up a rematch in November in the 1st Congressional District of Pennsylvania.

With 100 percent of the precincts reporting, the unofficial vote shows Fitzpatrick with 39,129 votes (62.7 percent), to Mark Houck’s 22,949 votes (36.8 percent).

The results set up a rematch of the 2022 race between Fitzpatrick and Democratic challenger Ashley Ehasz who was uncontested in Tuesday’s Democratic primary race.

“I want to thank everyone from across the district who participated in the electoral process and put their trust in me to be their nominee this November,” wrote Ehasz Tuesday night on Facebook. “It is an honor to have earned your vote and I am grateful to have the opportunity to flip PA-01 and fight for our fundamental freedoms in Congress.”

National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) spokesman Mike Marinella praised the outcome of Tuesday's primary in the 1st Congressional District but blasted the Democratic Party for "meddling" in the race.

"After years of brutal losses, National Democrats finally figured out they have no chance of beating Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick so they tagged in far-left California liberals to meddle in this primary. Their lame attempt to prop up a serial liar failed miserably and showed just how desperate they are to force their extreme values on Pennsylvania voters. Rep. Fitzpatrick will win this November and continue his hard work fighting for Pennsylvanians."

With the control of the House on the line, the 1st District of Pennsylvania will be a key race to watch in November as Republicans fight to keep the seat and Democrats attempt to flip the seat.

The 1st Congressional District of Pennsylvania includes all of Bucks County and a portion of Montgomery County.
