Rallies Across Bucks To Protest "National MAGA Default Crisis"

Rallies will take place today in Doylestown, Middletown Township, New Hope and Bensalem.

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Indivisible Bucks County will hold four separate rallies today (Friday, May 19) as part of a series of "MAGA Default Crisis Week of Action Rallies" being held across the nation.

“Our nation cannot afford to default on our debt,” said Laura Rose of Indivisible Bucks County, organizer of the Langhorne event. “Congress voted for annual budgets, and it is the height of irresponsibility to not pay our bills. The fact that the debt ceiling was raised three times under former President Trump with no outcry shows how artificial this MAGA-Republican outrage over the debt ceiling truly is.”

"MAGA Republicans are holding our nation’s economy hostage,” said Karen Rodriguez of Indivisible Bucks County, organizer of the Bensalem event. “They are refusing to fulfill their responsibilities, and our nation cannot afford these games. They are using this situation to pursue drastic and unpopular cuts to services for kids, seniors and veterans, and we will not be silent in the face of their inhumane plans."

“Brian Fitzpatrick and the GOP at large have voted to make life harder for some of the most vulnerable folks in our community,” said Connor O’Hanlon CPA, co-organizer of the Doylestown rally, chair of the Doylestown Democrats and host of the Greater Society Podcast. “By voting to cut vital support for seniors and veterans, they have shown what their priorities are - and they most certainly aren’t working to help average folks like us.”

When asked to respond to the rallies and the statements made by Indivisible, Fitzpatrick spokesperson Reagan McCarthy said, "Someone may want to inform this far-left hate speech organization called 'Indivisible' that the House has already voted to lift the debt ceiling, that dozens of House Democrats have joined us in supporting simultaneously tackling our debt ceiling and rectifying our 120 percent debt-to-GDP ratio, that benefits for seniors, veterans and the vulnerable are 100 percent protected, and that President Biden himself has joined us at this very moment in working on a bipartisan solution.

"The overwhelming majority of the American public support this bipartisan approach. This far-left hate speech group is speaking to themselves in their own echo chamber," she said. "Incredibly, they fail to see that the overwhelming majority of Americans reject their extremist, single-party ideology. Americans embrace positive bipartisan compromise, and they reject destructive hate speech organizations like Indivisible."
