Traffic Stop In Plumstead Yields White Powdery Substance: Reports

Police investigate bathroom vandalism, mediate domestic dispute, and arrest man for suspected DUI.

PLUMSTEAD TOWNSHIP, PA — The Plumstead Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between Jan. 15 and 21:

January 15

At 7:31 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Easton and Swamp Roads on the driver of a gray Honda Civic. While the driver retrieved documents from the glove box, a folded piece of paper with a white powdery substance was revealed. Charges are pending lab evidence results.

January 18

At 8:17 a.m., officers responded to Haunsey Park for a report of the restroom being left vandalized. A Plumstead Township public works employee found two soap dispensers and towel dispensers ripped off the wall. The total cost for replacement is $170. Surveillance video from the building will be reviewed. This case is still under investigation.

At 7 p.m., officers responded to Tollgate Road for a domestic. When officers arrived, they met with the complainant who said that a verbal argument turned physical. Officers stayed on scene until the complainant left the residence. Officers were able to mediate the dispute without any further action needed.

January 19

At 4:20 p.m., officers responded to Easton Road for a single vehicle rollover accident. When the officer arrived, they met with the driver of the vehicle and noticed a smell of alcohol coming from his breath along with other signs of impairment, glassy, unsteady gate, and slurred speech. The officers provided the driver with a breathalyzer test which came back to over the legal limit. Officers arrested Jeffrey Haber, 64, of Pipersville, for driving under the influence after he was unable to perform a field sobriety test. Charges are pending blood alcohol results.

January 21

At 11:34 a.m., officers were dispatched to Stump Road for a vandalized fire hydrant. When the officers arrived it was determined the hydrant was knocked over by a vehicle that went off the roadway. The officers notified the correct party of the damage.
