Residents Scammed Out Of Thousands: Plumstead Police Report

Police also broke up a cock fighting ring and arrested a woman after she was repeatedly asked to leave a township motel.

PLUMSTEAD TOWNSHIP, PA — The Plumstead Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between Feb. 12 and Feb. 18.

February 12

  • At 8:15 a.m., officers responded to Point Pleasant Pike for a suspicious situation. When the officers arrived, they were met by a woman who said that while her son was at the bus stop, she witnessed a Blue Toyota Camry stop near the bus stop. She called for her son and when he started running towards her, the vehicle sped off. The officers informed the woman that they would check the area for the vehicle.
  • At 12:27 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Colonial Village Motel for a trespassing incident. When police arrived, they met with a representative from the motel who said that an individual was on the property without permission and was asked to leave, which the individual did. Later that day officers were dispatched again for the same individual. This time officers cited Russtina Ancrum, 36, for defiant trespassing.
  • At 12:50 p.m., Sabreen Bayard, 40, of Philadelphia, was cited for drug violations after police observed Bayard smoking marijuana in her parked car. When police approached the vehicle, the odor of burnt marijuana was coming from the driver’s side window, which was partially rolled down.
  • At 1:49 p.m., officers were dispatched to Winterberry Drive for a reported scam. When the officers arrived, they met with a woman who said that she was selling an item on a resale app. The buyer sent her a check for more than what the items were listed. The buyer requested the check overage to be sent back to them. The woman then realized that this was a scam and destroyed the check and stopped all communication with the potential buyer. Officers investigated the username and found that the name had been banned from the app. The incident remains under investigation.

February 14

  • At 10:23 a.m., officers responded to the Colonial Village Motel for a trespassing report. The officers met with a representative from the motel who said they had been having issues with the same individual for the past two days and found the individual sleeping in one of the rooms where she was not permitted to be. She had been informed numerous times that she was not allowed on the premises. Officers arrested Russtina Ancrum, 36, for burglary. She was processed and arraigned and bail was set at $2,500 at 10 percent. She was then transported to the Bucks County Department of Corrections.

February 15

  • At 4:02 p.m., a Plumstead Township resident reported an incident of fraud. The man said that someone had gained access to his bank account and purchased approximately $10,000 worth of items. He was provided with an identity theft and victim’s rights packet. The incident is under investigation.

February 16

  • At 1:42 p.m., a Plumstead resident came into the station to report a scam. He told the officers that he had purchased a vehicle online and wired $13,000 to the seller. When the vehicle was not delivered and tracking was not updated, he realized he had fallen victim to a scam. The man was provided with a victim’s rights packet. The case remains under investigation.
  • At 1:50 p.m., a Plumstead resident reported a scam. He told the officer that he received pop-up messages on his computer saying that his computer was infected by a virus and to contact the provided number. When he contacted the number, he was informed that he had to pay $1,000 to fix the issue. A few weeks later the same person called the man back and said he needed $10,000 to resolve the issue. The complainant wired the money to the individual, not realizing it was a fraud until he received another phone call. The man was provided with a victim's rights packet. The incident remains under investigation.

February 18

  • At 11:15 a.m., officers responded to Easton Road for an anonymous report of an illegal cock fighting ring. When officers announced their presence, the participants fled the scene. The officers were able to apprehend one of the individuals, later Identified as Cesar Cordova-Morales, 21, of Oxford who was placed under arrest for animal fighting. Officers and a team from the Bucks County SPCA were able to confiscate all the roosters. Officers are reviewing surrounding security cameras. The case remains under active investigation.
