SCORE to Offer 6 Free Biz-Related Webinars in March

The Bucks chapter of the nonprofit will offer sessions on health insurance for small business, taxes, websites, email marketing and more.

In a continued effort to keep the local business community informed, SCORE Bucks County will offer six free webinars in March.

The first, “Health Insurance for Small Businesses,” will be held on March 1 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This webinar will provide participants with insight on health insurance options available to small business and their employees.

Led by Ron Hyman, owner of Insurance Shops and licensed insurance agent, the session will cover the following topics:

  • What types of plans are best from a cost and tax benefit perspective?
  • What is the Affordable Care Act and what are the requirements and fines for non-compliance?
  • How to get started offering benefit packages
  • Who pays for the benefits offered?

On March 8, SCORE will offer “The Mindset of a Successful Business Owner” from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Led by Patrick Donohue, a franchise consultant, career transition expert and business coach, the webinar will provide crucial information to help entrepreneurs and small business owners succeed.

He will cover the following topics:

  • The five levels of business ownership
  • The four types of intelligence for business ownership success
  • Why a franchise succeeds
  • Wealth building

On March 10, SCORE, in conjunction with Constant Contact, will offer “Email Marketing Quickstart” from 11 a.m. to noon. The session will provide an overview of email marketing, as well as best practices.

The webinar will share insight on:

  • Why email marketing must be part of your marketing strategy
  • How to grow your email list
  • Email writing tips
  • Designing your call to action

Attendees will receive a free 60-day trial of Constant Contact.

On March 15, SCORE will present “Win Customers With Your Website” from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The webinar will be led by Jessica Baldwin, co-founder of Cardsetter, a website platform with custom design and setup included.

Baldwin will discuss:

  • How to set up a website to win over customers
  • The critical role your website plays in your online marketing strategy
  • The features and tools needed to execute a plan

On March 22, SCORE will present “When is the Right Time to Plan for Retirement?” from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Led by Katrina Boyer, who has served the Pennsylvania Department of Banking and Securities since 2004, the session will focus on retirement planning.

Boyer will discuss:

  • Retirement planning for small business owners
  • Two different retirement strategies to consider
  • Different plans that may be available, including types of accounts and annual maximum contribution limits

On March 29, Leslie Chambers, a senior stakeholder liaison with the Internal Revenue Service, will present “IRS: What You Need to Know as a Small Business” from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The online seminar will provide insight to help small businesses understand and meet their tax responsibilities.

Attendees will learn about:

  • Small business tax – how to navigate federal taxes
  • IRS resources for small business
  • Tax mistakes to avoid
