Sears in Montgomery Mall Slated to Close in 2020

The Sears store in the Montgomery Mall in Montgomeryville, PA, will close its doors in 2020, Sears Kmart announced today (See USA Today story).

Liquidation sales will start after the Thanksgiving/Black Friday weekend, on Dec. 2.

Sears has been a Montgomery Mall anchor store since the mall's opening in 1977. The Sears Court in the mall features a kids playground. Montgomery Mall traditional sets up Santa's Workshop directly in front of the Sears.

This is the latest of the Sears closings around Doylestown and Bucks County. Sears Hardware in Warrington closed in 2018, and the Doylestown Kmart will close by the end of 2019. Sears Willow Grove Mall location has been cut back in size, with a Primark taking over a great deal of space.
