Serial Bucks County Drunk Driver Sentenced Prison
Gosford Sawyerr, 58, of Newtown has been convicted of drunk driving six times since 1989.

A Newtown man who authorities say is a serial drunk driver will serve 11 ½ to 23 months in prison, authorities announced this week.
Gosford Sawyerr, 58, has six DUI convictions since 1989. He is a “danger to the public,” said Bucks County Judge Diane E. Gibbons.
Sawyerr, a pharmaceutical researcher, was previously convicted of five DUIs in New York and Minnesota. He was arrested May 30, 2015 for driving under the influence in Upper Makefield Township.

According to the District Attorney’s office, Sawyerr was stopped by an Upper Makefield Township Police officer along Taylorsville Road.
The officer reported that Sawyerr’s vehicle had “weaved across the double-yellow center line five times before being pulled over,” the District Attorney’s office said in a statement.

He refused to submit to field sobriety tests and blood testing, the District Attorney said.
It was “nothing short of a miracle that no one was killed or seriously injured that night,” Assistant District Attorney Jessica Bryant said.
Sawyerr said he was “deeply sorry” in court, according to the District Attorney’s office.
“The shock of incarceration is beyond what you can imagine,” Sawyerr said.
Sawyerr has not served jail time since his first offense in 1989, according to the Bucks County District Attorney’s office.
His jail sentence will be followed by three years of consecutive probation.
