BUCKINGHAM, PA — Megan Transue Thorne is honoring her late sister, Corinne Sikora, on her birthday and the second anniversary of her passing, by issuing a challenge to the community to help pay Kin Wellness and Support Center's rent.

The center was inspired and built in honor of Sikora who battled and succumbed to brain cancer in 2020. Corinne was a beloved local who lived in Doylestown and worked as an administrator in the Central Bucks School District.

"It’s been two years since we lost this beauty," wrote Thorne in her Facebook posting announcing the rent challenge. "She was one of the kindest people who never hesitated to help someone. One of her wishes was to have a place for cancer patients to go for support, therapy and integrative services to help them during treatment. With the help of her close friend Alyssa Walloff and non-profit leader Keith Fenimore, that vision is now a reality.

"This center is 100 percent donation-based so to celebrate Corinne’s birthday, we thought the best way to honor her is to 'Raise The Rent' for Kin," continued Thorne. "One month’s rent is over $5000. Every dollar counts! We have had the privilege of meeting many of the guests and they are all beyond thankful to have these resources available to them!

"Donations can be made thru my Venmo @Megan-Thorne-4," said Thorne.

With Corinne's family's support and encouragement, Kin was built in record time and now cares for more than 200 local cancer patients and their caregivers. Kin is 100 percent donation funded and all services are offered without charge.

"It was our non-profit's honor to build Kin for our Bucks County cancer community. Corinne was an inspiration and the Transue family has been very supportive. This fundraiser, spearheaded by Megan, is amazingly kind, and instrumental to Kin's long term success," shares Kristina Fenimore, Director of Kin.

In response to Thorne's challenge, the Christina & Tyler Roy Foundation has stepped forward as the first donor to the"Raise the Rent" campaign. They will be covering rent in the amount of $5,900 for Kin as part of their giving week donation.

"The Christina & Tyler Roy Foundation's gracious gift to Kin will be put to good use as our center is 100 percent donation funded and we rely on community giving. This gift provides the financial security we need to continue the important work we are doing for locals battling
cancer across Bucks County and their families," shares Keith Fenimore, executive director of Kin.

The mission of the Christina and Tyler Foundation is to assists families in times of need. While remaining flexible in its approach, the foundation raises money to support charities focused on providing comfort, relief, and security for children and their families.”
