Spring Fish Stocking Makes A Splash At Borough Dam In Doylestown
Students from Linden Elementary, Our Lady of Mount Carmel and from the Council Rock School District participated in the stocking event.

DOYLESTOWN BOROUGH, PA — A bucket brigade of youngsters spent a fun and memorable
Wednesday morning stocking fish at the Borough Dam.
In about an hour, they managed to transfer 1200 rainbow trout from a truck to the waters of the Borough Dam with the help of volunteers from the Friends of the Borough Dam.
It was all in preparation for a springtime borough tradition - the Doylestown Fishing Derby, which casts off on Saturday, April 1.

The fish were trucked in from Limestone Springs Fishing Preserve in Lebanon County, which raises thousands of fish for spring stocking.
Organizers deemed Wednesday's event a huge success drawing young families from the community and school students from the nearby Linden Elementary School and from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. A class of special needs students also made the trip from the Council Rock School District.

“It’s phenomenal. How great is this?” asked Gerry Higgins, the event’s co-chair as he watched teams of youngsters collect the fish in buckets and then walked them down to the water’s edge where they dumped them into the water.
Standing nearby was Doylestown Borough Council President Jack O’Brien who was joined by several other council members at the event.
“This is one of my favorite events,” said O'Brien as teams of youngsters dumped bucket after bucket into the Borough Dam. “It’s really great to watch. And the kids get a big kick out of it.”
After the stocking, the youngsters, parents and event volunteers were treated to a free pizza lunch provided by Weis Markets, Delizia Pizza, Nat’s Pizza, Domino’s Pizza, all of Doylestown, and Dominick’s Pizza of Plumsteadville.
