DOYLESTOWN, PA - The stage is set for the 109th Doylestown Tree Lighting.

On Saturday morning, a crew from Bountiful Acres lifted this year’s evergreen into place in front of the historic 1758 Fountain House at State and Main in the heart of town.

The Nordman Fir, planted in the fields at Bountiful Acres in 2005 when it was about three or four years old, will take center stage on Friday, Nov. 24 from 5 to 8 p.m. for the annual tree lighting sponsored by Simply Fresh and presented by Discover Doylestown and Doylestown Borough.

This is the sixth year that Bountiful Acres has donated a tree for the century old town tradition, which draws thousands to the heart of town to experience the Norman Rockwell-like holiday moment.

Andy Eckhoff, the general manager of retail and wholesale operations at Bountiful Acres in Buckingham, led a team of employees as they delivered the tree to the center of Doylestown, hoisted it into place and then secured it for the upcoming holiday season.

"We love being able to supply the tree to the community. It's become part of our holiday tradition at Bountiful," said Eckoff. "And it's great being part of history."

Eckoff and his crew will be back on Monday and Tuesday to decorate the tree with 125 silver and gold balls and 6,000 lights.

"This tree is wonderful. It has wonderful lateral branching. It looks nice and it provides lots of room for ornaments," said Eckoff. "And it is going to hold lights beautifully."

Eckoff encourages everyone to come out and enjoy the tree, do some shopping and experience the holiday season in Doylestown.

Staged by Discover Doylestown and the Borough of Doylestown, this year’s tree lighting will be emceed by Richard Curtis and will include live seasonal music performed by local musicians, a parade ushering Santa into town, and the official arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus at Main and State to light the tree.

Joining Santa and Mrs. Claus will be Princess Ana and Queen Else from Arendelle and perhaps even the Grinch.

Doylestown Dart will be running free shuttles from the parking garage up to the tree lighting ceremony starting at 5 p.m.

Coinciding with the Doylestown Tree Lighting, the Village Improvement Association will host a Holiday Flea Market from 6 to 9 p.m. at the James-Lorah Memorial Auditorium, 100 North Broad Street in Doylestown. Proceeds will benefit the VIA’s Youth Scholarship program, which awards scholarships to deserving Central Bucks students.

On Saturday, everyone's invited back to downtown Doylestown for a day of shopping and supporting small business.

Small Business Saturday will include discount offers, unique and one-of-a-kind gifts, a festive holiday atmosphere and personalized service from friendly shop owners.
