The State Street Players Present Their 42nd Annual Show
"Today is Yesterday's Tomorrow....and other deep thoughts" premiers Fri. March 6, and runs through Sat. March 21
Put down your Devices, turn off the TV, and get ready to laugh and sing at the State Street Players 41st Annual Assault on the Performing Arts, Today Is Yesterday’s Tomorrow on March 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21, 2020
Today's entertainment is faster and louder than ever before. Video games and social networking battle with TV and movies for our daily attention, and it seems entertainment is often measured in bits and bytes instead of laughter and songs.
The State Street Players are familiar with the digital competition they face from modern entertainment media. This year's 42nd Annual Assault on the Performing Arts—entitled Today Is Yesterday’s Tomorrow...and other deep thoughts—will be held March 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21, 2020, in the Our Lady of Mount Carmel School Auditorium, 225 East Ashland Street, Doylestown, PA.

Eric Nitschke, director for the 2020 show, notes the State Street Players' annual shows are perfect for audiences who want to unplug their digital entertainment and spend an evening out enjoying live entertainment at a reasonable price.
“In the age of athletes and movie stars whose values and performances leave many people scratching their heads, the State Street Players offer a simpler form of entertainment provided by people who work for a living and volunteer their time and energy to the performing arts,” Nitschke said.

For each for the past 41 years, more than 100 Doylestown-area residents write, produce and perform the annual show, as well as build their own sets and construct the stage itself in the Our Lady of Mount Carmel School auditorium.
Nitschke explained this down-home theme takes audience members on frolicking romp through the rich history of TV, film, Broadway, and Americana.
"The audience will recognize many songs from the past through today, plus some classic TV and movie scenes they wouldn't have expected," he said, adding that song-and-dance routines are interspersed with comedy skits, heavy on physical and satirical humor.
The group will spend a total of nine months in production, from initial writing over the summer of 2019 until the March show dates.
Several members have been involved with the show for all 41 prior productions. Long-time members credit the group's longevity to the creativity and enthusiasm of its members, who represent many careers and backgrounds.
Businesses around Doylestown and the surrounding areas can get visibility from the nearly 2,000 total audience attendees by advertising in the show program, or donating goods and services for raffle baskets to be raffled off at each of the six shows.
