Strong Storms Expected This Evening: NWS

A line of strong thunderstorms moving east will hit Eastern Pennsylvania in the late afternoon and early evening hours, the National Weather Service is warning.

The storms, with 50 mph wind and heavy downpours, were moving from Central Pennsylvania around 1:30 p.m. and should make it to the Lehigh Valley by 4 p.m. and the Delaware Valley by 6 p.m.

Impacted areas in Pennsylvania include the following counties: Bucks; Chester; Delaware; Montgomery; Philadelphia; Carbon; Lehigh; Monroe; and Berks.

In addition to strong wind gusts, the storms are producing cloud to ground lightning.

Residents in the impacted areas should monitor the news for updates, as the storms may intensify, causing severe thunderstorm or flash flood warnings.

More thunderstorms are possible Saturday, according to forecasters.
