Taste The Harvest At Bucks County Wine Trail Celebration

One of the vineyards is offering visitors a chance to jump feet first into the harvest with a grape-stomping activity.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — Have you ever tried grape stomping? Well, here's your chance to jump feet first into the wine-making process.

Grape-stomping is one of the many activities that are part of the Bucks County Wine Trail's Harvest Celebration on Saturday and Sunday, Oct 8 and 9 at a vineyard near you.

Visitors are invited to come and taste the fruits of the vineyards while celebrating the fall harvest.

In addition to sampling a variety of award-winning locally made Bucks County wines, guests can taste freshly pressed grape juices that have not yet fermented into wine.

Here is a look at what each of the wineries along the Bucks County Wine Trail are planning in conjunction with the annual Harvest Celebration.

  • Bishop Estate Vineyard and Winery in Perkasie will offer live music and food trucks during the weekend. Guests can take part in an actual grape stomping activity, which makes for a fun photo opp. Seasonal favorites Smash'n Pumpkins wine will be served with an optional sweet cinnamon sugar rimmed glass, or try warm spiced Applenoonie Apple wine. Complimentary wagon rides around the vineyard will be available (first come, first served) on Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m. On Sunday, Bishop is offering two seatings for its fall cupcake and wine pairing, which features three wine-infused cupcakes paired with three wines.   • Buckingham Valley Vineyards in Buckingham Township will serve complimentary fresh grape juice and donuts throughout the weekend. Wine slushies, cold wine and light snacks will be available for purchase and can be enjoyed at the winery's picnic tables. Live music will be available on Sunday, weather permitting.
  • Crossing Vineyards and Winery in Upper Makefield will have live music on both days; seasonal cocktails and specialty food and wine pairings, this weekend only; and a 10 percent discount and cloth wine bag offered on a purchase of four bottles.
  • Rose Bank Winery in Newtown will have live music from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday.
  • At Rushland Ridge Vineyard & Winery in Warwick Township, guests can sample fresh-pressed Traminette grape juice (which has a flavor profile of honey, spices, and floral notes), along with seasonal cookies. As an added bonus, with every paid wine tasting, folks can pick a pumpkin (while supplies last).
  • Sand Castle Winery in Tinicum will serve its Burčák wine, a baby wine produced only two weeks ago. This refreshing, bubbly wine is slightly carbonated. On Sunday, Sand Castle will host live music and have bratwursts available for purchase. Guests can take in the magnificent vineyard and Delaware River bank foliage while relaxing with wine and music.

The Bucks County Wine Trail was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 2004. Today, seven
