Texas Man Faces Felony Charges For Defrauding Bucks County Resident

Police launched an investigation after a resident reported that fraudulent activity had occurred involving their Home Equity Line of Credit.

BEDMINSTER, PA — A Texas man faces multiple felony charges for defrauding a Bedminster Township resident out of $197,000.

After a lengthy investigation, Bedminster Township Police charged Torian Devonte Fridia, 29, of Lancaster, Texas, with one count of forgery, one count of theft by deception, one count of theft, one count of receiving stolen property, and one count of access device fraud.

Police launched an investigation in July 2023 after a resident reported that fraudulent activity had occurred involving their Home Equity Line of Credit Account. It was determined that someone set up an online bank account and moved money from the victim’s Home Equity Line of Credit Account into a fraudulent checking account. Two checks, totaling $389,200, were subsequently issued from the fraudulent checking account.

After a lengthy investigation, it was determined that Torian Devonte Fridia was responsible for depositing one of the checks for $197,100 into a bank account and then making withdrawals.

The investigation is ongoing to determine the identity of the individual responsible for depositing the second check.
