Theft, Harassment Complaints Investigated By Plumstead Police

Man falls victim to computer fraud; landlord complains about engine-revving tenant; unwanted subject asked by police to cease contact.

PLUMSTEAD TOWNSHIP, PA — The Plumstead Township Police Department reported the following incidents between Jan. 23 and 29:

January 23

  • At 11:19 a.m., Officers investigated a possible theft in the area of Christopher Day Road. A resident told police that she received a package and when she went to retrieve the item the package was open and the item was missing. The item was valued at $400.
  • At 1:05 p.m., officers responded to Rinker Circle for an unwanted person who had entered a residence. When officers arrived, they checked the area and were unable to locate the individual. According to a ring camera video, the man identified himself as an employee for a repair business, the complainant opened the door and the suspect walked in casually. Police later learned that the employee entered the incorrect address and officers cleared the call without incident.

  • At 11:58 a.m., officers responded to a harassment complaint on Easton Road. The complainant said that on multiple occasions a tenant from her rental property had driven by her residence, revved the engine and beeped their horn. Officers identified the driver and advised him to discontinue these actions or charges would be filed.

January 28

  • At 8:16 a.m., officers responded to a call for a fraudulent transaction. The complainant related that on Jan. 26 while using his computer his screen displayed an alert that his computer was hacked and provided a phone number to the FBI. He called the number and spoke to a man who directed him to call a number for Penn Community Bank. They directed him to a branch that he does not use normally. He withdrew $10,000 and sent it to a Bitcoin account. The victim was provided a victim's rights packet and is working with the department’s Victim Services Unit. The incident remains under investigation.
  • At 3:57 p.m., officers investigated a domestic dispute in the area of Point Pleasant Pike. Officers spoke to the individuals separately and each party was advised of options available to them. Officers were able to mediate the situation and no further action was taken.

January 29

  • At 1:31 p.m., officers responded to the European Wax Center on Swamp Road for a harassment complaint. The complainant received multiple attempts of communication by a known unwanted subject. The subject’s identity was confirmed and was advised to cease contact. The complainant was provided with a victim's right packet. The incident remains under investigation.
