DOYLESTOWN, PA — Thousands took advantage of a beautiful Earth Day weekend to visit the campus of the Delaware Valley University.

From Friday through Sunday, visitors enjoyed three days of A-Day fun, activities and learning from animal shows to racing pigs and everything in between.

A-Day, which stands for Activities Day, is a family-friendly event organized and implemented by the students of DelVal to benefit campus activities and clubs. The three-day event brings the campus and the surrounding community together for educational exhibits, fun competitions, entertainment, local vendors, and delicious food and treats.

The squeal of excitement filled the quad as pigs raced around a track. Nearby visitors stood in line for the legendary milkshakes made by the Pennsylvania Dairymen’s Association.

The weekend also included animal competitions, pony rides, carriage rides, interactive demonstrations, live entertainment, blacksmithing, hayrides and inflatable obstacle courses.

The event also included lots of food trucks, indoor and outdoor vendors and crafters and a tractor parade.

A long-standing tradition at DelVal, the first A-Day was held in May 1949. At that time, A-Day was a single day when students worked together to showcase various agricultural displays, farm animals, and other exhibits. Today, the tradition continues as students gain hands-on, real-world experience by planning and implementing A-Day with minimal guidance from the university's staff, faculty, and administration.
