State Street Players a Hot Ticket

The State Street Players are nearly ready to unleash their madcap mayhem once again on an adoring crowd in Doylestown.

The Players will present the 2013 version of their annual dinner theater production in March.

Tickets are on sale and, as usual, are going quickly. One Saturday night performance already is sold out.

This year's installment of the annual production promises familial hilarity.

Entitled "Frolicking Family Foibles," this year's show invites audiences to "witness the antics of two unlikely families joined by the marriage of their youngest siblings. The family politics and pure dysfunction will be intersperse with your favorite movies, music and memories."

Now in its 35th year, the State Street Players, has evolved into a popular, local theater group composed of more than 100 Doylestown-area residents.

Productions are an intimate affair. The Players write, produce and perform the annual show, along with creating their own sets, designing their own costumes and building their own stage in the auditorium at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School, 225 E. Ashland St., Doylestown.

Devotees return year after year for the dinner theater atmosphere. Attendees can bring their own food or order from a house caterer; meals will be delivered directly to the table in the auditorium.

"My description of the show, in general, is it’s tailgating with entertainment," Kathleen Sheehan Cox told Patch in 2011.

"It really is a fun night out," said troupe member Karyn Hyland, of New Britain.

This year's show premieres on Friday, March 1, and runs the following two weekends. Note that tickets for the March 9 performance already are sold out.

• Tables of up to 10 are available

• Doors open at 6:45 p.m.; showtime is 8 p.m.
