Tony Award Winning Comedy Next at Town & Country Players

Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike opens May 11 and features a talkback with playwright, Christopher Durang is May 19.

Town & Country Players is bursting with Bucks County pride as they prepare for the next show of the 2018 season, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, written by Bucks County playwright, Christopher Durang.

The show is set in the bucolic Bucks County home of siblings Vanya and Sonia and takes place during a visit from their overly dramatic movie star sister, Masha, who swoops in with her new boy toy, Spike. Director Andy McPhee describes the show as a clever comedy that is so well written and so funny that his actors have trouble delivering the lines without laughing through rehearsal. Though a comedy, at its core the show is about human relationships. McPhee explained, “We all need to find our own home, a space we can feel completely comfortable, where we can kick back and just be ourselves. We need the love and companionship of loved ones, no matter who they might be. Every character in the show, in their own way, is looking for the same thing, really, a connectedness to something greater than themselves: home.”

Immediately following the May 19 performance guests are invited to stay for a “talkback” with playwright, Christopher Durang, hosted by Director Andy McPhee. It is as rare opportunity to sit and chat with a Tony Award-winning playwright and ask everything you wanted to know about the writing process, the Broadway experience, the names of these characters (and the influence of Anton Chekhov, renowned Russian playwright, in this play) or anything at all!
