TOPP Foundation Offers Camp Scholarships for Local Youth with Type 1 Diabetes.
Families in Bucks, Montgomery, and Philadelphia Counties can still apply for tuition assistance for specialized diabetes camps.

The TOPP Foundation announces that its 2026 Camp Scholarship Program is underway, with applications still being accepted for families wishing to send their child with type 1 diabetes (T1D) to a specialized overnight diabetes camp this summer. Applications remain open until April 30, 2026.
TOPP is offering $500 scholarships for campers living in Bucks, Montgomery, and Philadelphia Counties to attend Camp Freedom in Schwenksville, PA, or Camp Nejeda in Newton, NJ. Both camps provide 24‑hour medical supervision and a traditional overnight camp experience designed specifically for children and teens with T1D.
Because T1D requires constant monitoring, insulin management, and rapid response to blood sugar changes, many children cannot safely attend standard overnight camps. Diabetes camps offer a medically safe environment, peer support, and opportunities to build confidence, independence, and lasting friendships.

Scholarships are awarded through a lottery system, ensuring equal access for all eligible applicants. From 2018–2025, TOPP awarded 43 camp scholarships, helping youth with T1D enjoy safe, meaningful camp experiences. The Foundation looks forward to supporting even more families in 2026.
“These camps create a safe, medically supported community where kids can meet others who live with the same daily challenges. For many campers, it’s the first time they don’t feel different—they feel understood, included, and surrounded by friends who ‘get it.’ That sense of belonging can be life‑changing,” said the TOPP Foundation

Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease in which the body destroys insulin‑producing cells in the pancreas. It is not preventable and currently has no cure. Individuals with T1D rely on injected or pumped insulin and must carefully monitor blood sugar levels to avoid life‑threatening complications. The daily demands of T1D make specialized camps an invaluable resource for families.
