Town & Country Players Presents the Thriller, The Children's Hour
Running weekends October 12th-27th with talkbacks focused on bullying behavior following the Sunday matinees

Based on a true story, Lillian Hellman’s 1934 debut drama The Children’s Hour tells the story of the power of one vengeful lie told by schoolgirl, Mary Tilford, played by Makayla McClintic and its impact on her teachers, Karen Wright played by Caitlin Riley and Martha Dobie played by Danielle Foley. Before bullying had a name, Hellman painted a carefully crafted picture of the dangers that can arise when the mean spirit of one person can create a ripple effect that rapidly turns into an emotional tidal wave with disastrous consequences. She also masterfully demonstrates that this is not just the realm of children, but that adults can fall victim just as easily.
Director Rob Rosiello was drawn to the show because of its timeless message about the impacts of bullying and finds it especially relevant today with the additional challenges of social media. He hopes that the show will spawn questions and conversations amongst the audience and to that end T&C is offering talk back sessions moderated by Sarah LeClair after both Sunday matinee performances.
There is something compelling about the subtlety and thoughtfulness with which a bully operates that intrigues audiences. Whether coming to the show for a seasonal thriller or for a more thought-provoking look at bullying and its impacts, The Children’s Hour will be entertaining for all.
