​Tri-Municipal Parade Celebrates Independence Day In Bucks

Hundreds line the streets of Chalfont, New Britain Borough, and New Britain Township for the Independence Day march.

NEW BRITAIN BOROUGH, PA — A flag-waving celebration welcomed the Fourth of July on Thursday as the Tri-Municipal Parade marched through New Britain Borough, Chalfont Borough, and New Britain Township.

The parade had it all from Lady Liberty to Uncle Sam as patriotic tunes provided the marching music and politicians greeted the crowds.

The parade stepped off with a flag salute to the military branches with the U.S. Marine Corps League and and Cub Pack 133 following close behind.

Chalfont's volunteer firefighters rolled by with an impressive showing of apparatus. They were joined by Chal-Brit Regional EMS.

Applause greeted veterans from Chalfont VFW Post No. 3268 while the Galena Brass Band set the tone with patriotic marching music, including Yankee Doodle Dandy.

New Britain Borough Council President Peter LaMontagne joined the parade as Uncle Sam. He was accompanied by two Lady Liberties aboard the New Britain Borough float, a new flatbed truck that will be put to use at Wilma Quinlan Nature Preserve.

The Chalfont Lions Club let out a roar as its float rolled by while the Rotary Club of Montgo-New Britain celebrated "Service Above Self".

Students from St. Jude School waved flags while numerous military vehicles and a parade of tractors rolled by.

Action Karate brought the martial arts to the streets and Scout troops and athletic organizations, including the Lenape Valley Tomahawks and Lenape Valley Girls Basketball, marched by waving flags.

The Tri-State Corvette Association revved up the crowd with a parade of a dozen red, white and blue Corvettes. The Springbrooke Band entertained from the back of a flatbed truck. And Bucks Bubbles made it "snow" in July.

Wicked Waste had one of the more unique floats of the day - a dumpster swimming pool.

The parade concluded with fire trucks and apparatus from Hilltown Township and from Doylestown Fire Company No. 1.
