Two Puppies Die, Dozens Recovering After Pa. Turnpike Crash
The Bucks County SPCA came to the aid of 79 puppies, which were in a van that crashed in Lower Moreland Wednesday morning.

Two puppies died and dozens were injured in a crash on the Pennsylvania Turnpike Wednesday morning in Lower Moreland. The Bucks County SPCA came to the aid of the 79 puppies, which were in transit to a pet store in New Jersey, according to multiple reports.
A van that was carrying the puppies hit a truck around 4:30 a.m. in Lower Moreland, the Bucks County Courier Times reported.
Of the 79 puppies involved in the crash, two died and 12 were released at the scene to the owner of the New Jersey-based pet store that was anticipating delivery of the animals, the Courier Times reported.

The rest of the puppies were taken to the Bucks County SPCA in Buckingham Township, the organization confirmed.
“Most of the puppies recovered well from their hard morning, once they got some food, water, and a warm place to rest. There are a few we brought to a veterinarian with more serious injuries like broken bones,” the Bucks County SPCA said via Facebook.

In addition to the puppies, five people were injured in the crash, which happened between the Willow Grove and Bensalem exits, NBC10 reported.
The Southampton and Willow Grove fire companies responded to the scene of the accident, and then the Bucks County SPCA was called after emergency crews determined the animals were involved, NBC10 said.
“We are glad that we were here to help the puppies in their time of need. We’re doing everything we can legally do for them,” the SPCA said.
The accident is currently under investigation.
