Two Veteran Police Officers Promoted In Warrington Township

WARRINGTON, PA — Corporal Aaron Menzies advanced to the rank of Sergeant and Officer Brian Kelly moved up to Corporal during a promotion ceremony at the Warrington Township Municipal Building on March 28.

Sergeant Aaron Menzies began his career in policing with the Solebury Township Police Department, where he served as a police officer for three years. Menzies was hired by the Warrington Township Police Department in 2014 as a patrol officer. He was promoted to the rank of Corporal in March 2022.

Before his promotion, he was assigned as an Officer in Charge for more than three years, assisting with the day-to-day supervision of his patrol squad. He was also assigned as a SWAT officer with the South-Central Emergency Response Team for more than six years.

Menzies received the status of Professional Accreditation through the Police Chief’s Association of Bucks County, and is the department's first and only Drug Recognition Expert, a program for which there are only approximately 230 certified officers statewide.

Menzies has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Bloomsburg University, is married and has two sons.

Corporal Brian Kelly began his professional career in 2006 when he enlisted in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard as a vehicle mechanic with Gulf Company 228th Forward Support Battalion, an attachment of the 28th Infantry Division. He was honorably discharged in 2012 as a Sergeant.

In 2009, he enrolled in the Montgomery County Community College Police Academy where he was a squad leader and class platoon leader before graduating in 2010. Kelly worked as a part-time police officer with the Franconia Township Police Department in Montgomery County from 2011 to 2014.

In 2014, he was hired as a full-time police officer with Warrington Township Police Department.

During his time with the Warrington Police Department, Kelly has served as a Federal Motor Carrier Inspector through the Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program; a Field Training Officer; a South-Central Emergency Response Team (SWAT) Operator; and as a member of the Bucks County Drug Task Force. He is an accredited Law Enforcement Officer and Officer in Charge. Kelly is married and has family living in Western Pennsylvania.
