Doylestown School Damaged In Overnight Vehicle Crash: Reports

Police told Action News that a driver lost control, hit a pole and crashed into the side of the Lenape Middle School.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — School is in session today at the Lenape Middle School in Doylestown Borough following an overnight vehicle crash that left a gaping hole in the side of the building located in the 300 block of State Street.

Police told Channel Six Action News that just after 11 p.m. the driver lost control, hit a pole and crashed into the school, causing damage to one classroom. They also reported that the driver was trapped inside the car and had to be extricated.

The driver was transported to the hospital where he was being treated for injuries.

No one inside the building was injured, officials told Action News.

According to the Central Bucks School District, the crash caused damage to one classroom, but did not impact the structural integrity of the building. School opened on time and classes are being held as usual, said the district.

Following the crash, the building was cleared by the Fire Marshall for occupation of all rooms except the individual classroom damaged by the vehicle. Officials with the Central Bucks School District are currently engaged in site assessments to determine the necessary repairs.
