Warrington Man Faces Multiple Charges For Abandoning Roomate's Dog
Police are accusing the 63-year-old man of intentionally abandoning the dog at a park in Montgomery County.
WARRINGTON, PA - A Warrington man is facing animal cruelty and neglect charges after abandoning his roommate's dog in a park.
Police were contacted in late November by a Warrington man who reported that his German Sheppard Abby had been taken, relocated, and abandoned while he was hospitalized for a medical issue earlier in the month.
The resident told police that when he was admitted to a rehabilitation facility, he left the one-and-a-half-year-old dog in the care of his roommate.

Police said the roommate, however, became frustrated with the dog for constant whining, damage to the apartment, and repeated urination and defecation inside the home.
According to an investigation, the roommate drove the dog to a park near Lansdale where police said he intentionally abandoned the dog without food, water, or shelter.

On Dec. 12, the Towamencin Township Police Department located the dog and transported it to the SPCA. The SPCA reported that the dog was malnourished at the time she was brought to their care, police said.
On the day the dog was found, police said the temperature never reached higher than 35 degrees.
On January 14, the roommate turned himself over to Warrington Police. He was processed and arraigned by Judge Wertman, who set bail at $55,000 unsecured.
Police have charged the 63-year-old man with cruelty to animals, theft by unlawful taking, and two counts of neglect of animals.
