Warrington Man Faces Shoplifting Charges For Switching UPC Codes
In other reports, police cited two men for stealing beer from a township beverage store.
WARRINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — A Warrington man faces felony shoplifting charges following an incident at the Target Store where he is accused of switching UPC codes to get a better price.
On March 24 at approximately 7:59 a.m. Warrington Police responded to the Target store where they were told by the store's loss prevention officer that Christopher Knox from Warrington was shoplifting and switching UPC codes and buying items at a lower cost.
On March 16 at approximately 9:14 p.m., the store's loss prevention officer told police that Knox placed a box of sports cards into a bag at the self-checkout, failing to ring up the cards. Knox also placed a Hot Wheels UPC code on another box of sports cards. Total value of unpaid merchandise was $48.79, police said.

On March 21 at approximately 6:21 p.m. Knox also placed a UPC code on a French Terry Hoodie and a Star Wars Lego set failing to pay the full retail price of $70.21, said police.
A criminal complaint was filed at District Court.

- On March 22 at approximately 9:54 a.m. police responded to Dunkin Donuts for the report of a suspicious man who was harassing customers. When police arrived, the 54-year-old had already left the business. Officers located the man a short time later at Bound Beverages where he was arguing with employees. An investigation revealed that the man had walked into the store, selected two cigars, and concealed them on his person. He then selected a can of Fosters beer and opened it before approaching the registers. When an employee asked if he was going to pay for it, he replied “no”. The total amount stolen was $29.18. The man was placed under arrest and transported to the station where he was processed, received a citation for retail theft and was released.
- On March 22 at approximately 7:37 p.m., police responded to Bound Beverages for the report of a retail theft. Upon arrival, staff reported they observed a man select a 12-pack of Miller Lite valued at $14.84 and place it in his backpack. The 20-year-old man then exited the store while failing to pay for the concealed merchandise. When he was confronted by an employee about the theft, he removed the concealed merchandise from his backpack, left it on the ground, and walked away, police said. Employees advised police that the man was in the Creekview Shopping Center where he was placed under arrest. He was also in possession of a counterfeit Ohio driver’s license, police said. The man from Rockville Center, New York, was transported to the station where he was processed, received two citations, and was released.
