Warrington Township Police Corporal Retires After 32 Years

He helped start the department's highway patrol division and is a founding member of the Bucks Montgomery Motor Carrier Enforcement Team

WARRINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — Warrington Corporal Michael Neipp, who helped start the department's highway patrol division and is a founding member of the Bucks Montgomery Motor Carrier Enforcement Team, has retired from the department after 32 years of service.

Cpl. Neipp graduated from the Montgomery County Police Academy in 1992 and shortly after began his long tenured career with the Warrington Township Police Department. He partnered with Cpl. John Blanchard and started the highway patrol division in 1997

In 2001, Neipp earned his certification as a Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program inspector and became a founding member of the Bucks Montgomery County Motor Carrier Enforcement Team. Additionally, he earned his certification as a state mechanical and weights and measures inspector.

In 2002, he was certified as a motorcycle operator with the Philadelphia Police Highway Patrol. Shortly after in 2004, he earned his certification through Northwestern University as a police motorcycle instructor. He also attended several motorcycle maintenance schools through Harley Davidson University.

In 2012, he became a founding member of the Bucks County District Attorney’s Homicide by Motor Vehicle Unit. Cpl. Neipp has served on both the Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program and crash teams since their inception. And in 2014, he was promoted to Highway Corporal with Warrington.

"Cpl. Neipp has dedicated countless years to accident investigation and reconstruction dating as far back to 1996 when he began training, which included basic crash, advanced crash, crash reconstruction, pedestrian crash, and commercial crash," said Chief Dan Friel.

Cpl. Neipp attended multiple updates and annual seminars with the Pennsylvania State Police along with attending the WREX (World Reconstruction Expo).

"He devoted almost 30 years of dedication to the specialty, which included over 3,000 traffic crash investigations and the investigation of approximately 800 fatal or near-fatal reconstructions," said the chief. "He was the lead investigator on approximately 275 fatal crashes."

That experience ultimately led to his most recent promotion within the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office. In 2019, he was promoted to Deputy Chief of the Homicide by Motor Vehicle Unit.

Cpl. Neipp has been recognized as an expert in the various specialties mentioned in the District Court and Common Pleas levels based on his extensive knowledge and experience.

"His countless awards including the Latent Finger Print Award, Hero Scholarship Award, Merit Award, PennDOT awards, Life Saving Award, and President’s Award serve as testimony of the work that Corporal Neipp has dedicated to Warrington Township and the County of Bucks," said the chief.
