WEATHER ALERT: 'Winter Storm Hektor' Dumps Freezing Rain, Snow On Pennsylvania's Monday Commute
The National Weather Service issued both a Hazardous Weather Outlook and a Winter Weather Advisory for much of eastern Pennsylvania.

Winter Storm Hektor slammed Pennsylvania with freezing rain, sleet and snow during the Monday morning commute.
- The National Weather Service issued both a Hazardous Weather Outlook and a Winter Weather Advisory for much of New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania, saying a wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain will arrive on Sunday night and Monday morning.

- The Pennsylvania Turnpike has issued a travel advisory for motorists due to the forecasted winter weather on Monday, which would include snow, sleet and freezing rain. When travelers encounter changing weather conditions, or approach emergency workers on the roadway, please reduce your speed and keep alert.
- Motorists should stay alert for quickly changing weather conditions. Prepare your vehicle and passengers for winter travel by packing needed supplies. The Pennsylvania Turnpike asks motorists to allow plenty of space when driving near plow trucks.
- Two accidents were reported on I-76 near New Castle, and traffic was heavy and congested in the Philadelphia area.
- The snow and sleet will change over to plain rain before it may change back briefly to a snow-and-sleet mixture monday evening, according to the National Weather Service.
Snow and sleet accumulations are expected to be less than 1 inch, along with a trace of ice.
Untreated roads could be slippery, making the morning commute more difficult than usual, according to the National Weather Service.

Hektor brought light icing to parts of Texas Friday and Saturday and is now heading to the north and east.
The threat of sleet and freezing rain Monday stretches along the heavily-populated I-95 Northeast urban corridor, including the New Jersey Turnpike, making the Monday morning commute potentially challenging, according to The Weather Channel.
