Is Whole Foods Opening In Doylestown?

Rumors are swirling that Whole Foods Market is opening in Doylestown, but those claims are not currently being confirmed by the company.

There are rumors swirling about town that a Whole Foods Market is opening in Doylestown, at the spot being vacated later this month by Redner's. However, those claims are not currently being confirmed by Whole Foods.

Whole Foods spokeswoman Rachael Dean Wilson told Patch in an email that while the company is "always evaluating new store locations" she had nothing to share regarding a Doylestown location.

Redner's announced this week it was closing its Doylestown Point Plaza location. The store's last day will be March 31. Ryan Redner, the company's president and CEO, said in a statement that the lease on the location was approaching its end and the property owner presented an offer to terminate it early.

The plaza is owned by Goodman Properties of Jenkintown. Goodman Properties did not return a message seeking details on what would be coming into the shopping center once Redner's leaves.

"Based on the offer, non-renewal of said lease would prove to be the most beneficial direction to take for the company," Redner's statement said. "We feel that closure was the best option as we focus our energies on stores with positive growth in the other stores within Bucks County and as we expand into new markets."

Redner's opened in Doylestown in 1995 and employs 69 people. All employees will be provided an opportunity to continue their employment at other Redner's locations within the region. No associates will lose their job based upon the closure, Redner's said in a statement.

Whole Foods currently operates 13 Pennsylvania stores, including locations in North Wales and Plymouth Meeting.
