In Pennsylvania, the winning ticket worth $2 million matched five of the white balls drawn and was purchased with the Power Play option, which boosted the prize to $2 million instead of $1 million, according to lottery officials.

That ticket was sold by Fresh & Quick, 245 Main St., Catawissa, Columbia County. The four $1 million winning tickets matched five of the five white balls drawn, and were sold by the following retailers:

  • Marathon, 100 E. 7th Ave., Tarentum, Allegheny County;
  • 7-Eleven, 1483 W. Street Road, Warminster, Bucks County;
  • Darrenkamp’s Market, 945 E. Main St., Mount Joy, Lancaster County; and
  • Weis Markets, 365 S. Cedar Crest Blvd., Allentown, Lehigh County.

The four $200,000 tickets matched four of the five white balls drawn, the Powerball, and purchased the Power Play option which boosted their prizes to $200,000 - instead of $50,000 because Wednesday’s multiplier was four. Those tickets were sold by the following retailers:

  • Get Go, 2401 Ferguson Road, Allison Park, Allegheny County;
  • Martin General Stores, 3218 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, Blair County;
  • Giant Food Store, 50 Briar Creek Plaza, Berwick, Columbia County; and
  • Weis Markets, 339 W. Walnut St., Shamokin, Northumberland County.

A grand total of 485,326 Pennsylvania Lottery Powerball tickets won prizes of various amounts, including 92,115 tickets purchased with the Power Play option that multiplied their prizes by four. Players are reminded to check every ticket, every time.

The Powerball jackpot had been rolling since the June 10 drawing. During the jackpot run, the Pennsylvania Lottery saw over $91 million in Powerball and Power Play sales, and awarded more than $45.7 million in prizes to 1,689,143 winners

In Pennsylvania, winners have one year from the drawing date to claim their prizes. Winners cannot be identified until prizes are claimed and tickets are validated.

The jackpot is the second highest in both Powerball history and all North American games’ history. If the winning ticket is purchased as an annuity, the estimated $758.7 million jackpot prize will be paid out over 30 years. The first payment would be $10,536,005 and the 30th payment would be $43,367,623. The cash value is $443.3 million.

The jackpot - won by matching all five white balls in any order and the red Powerball - is either an annuitized prize paid out over 29 years (30 payments counting the first immediate payment) or a cash lump sum payment.

  • If you choose the cash, then you get the cash, pay the tax, and can invest what is left over. If you choose the annuity, then we can invest the cash amount pre-tax, less an immediate first payment (more to invest means more earnings).
  • With the annuity, you get an annual payment that is increased by 5 percent each year to keep up with the cost of living.
  • The second prize - won by matching five white balls in any order - is $1 million paid in cash (no annuity option). You win by matching at least three white ball numbers. Any time you match the red Powerball, you win a prize.
  • Power Play is a special add-on feature that allows a winner to increase the original prize amounts (except the jackpot).
  • Each ticket costs $2.
  • The Power Play option costs $1 extra and must be selected when you buy your Powerball ticket. Powerball players with the Power Play option winning any prize other than the jackpot will win a larger cash prize.
  • The Match 5+0 prize with Power Play option grows to $2million paid in a cash lump sum (no annuity option is offered). All other lower prizes (below Match 5) will be multiplied by a number that we draw (2X, 3X, 4X, or 5X).

Powerball Is Over $700 Million: Here's Why You Shouldn't Be Impressed

A winning Powerball ticket worth $1 million from the Saturday, August 19, drawing was sold at Whitpain Beverage, 1667 Dekalb Pike, Blue Bell, Montgomery County. The ticket correctly matched all five white balls drawn, 17-19-39-43-68, but not the red Powerball 13, to win $1 million, less applicable tax withholding.

The store earns a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

In addition, two winning Pennsylvania Lottery Powerball with Power Play tickets worth $200,000 each from the August 19 drawing were sold at:

  • MJ’s Mini Mart, 275 Fairview Road, Kersey, Elk County
  • Montrose Convenience Store, 11046 Route 29, South Montrose, Susquehanna County.

Those tickets correctly matched four of the five white balls drawn, and matched the red Powerball, to win $200,000, less applicable tax withholding. They were sold with the $1 Power Play option, which boosted the prize to $200,000 instead of $50,000 because Saturday’s multiplier was four.

Prizes must be claimed and tickets validated before winners can be identified. Pennsylvania Lottery Powerball winners have one year from the drawing date to claim prizes.
