Woman Faces Charges After Pointing Loaded Gun At Family Member In Warrington

WARRINGTON, PA — A Warrington woman is facing aggravated assault charges after pointing a loaded handgun at a family member during an incident in the 100 block of Valley Road.

Police were called to the scene just before 10:30 p.m. on July 7 for the report of an armed subject. Officers learned that the victim had asked 50-year-old Elaine Aviles to enter a locked bedroom to retrieve his tools.

After Aviles refused, the victim used a key to unlock the door. Upon entering the room, police said he found Aviles standing on a bed pointing a loaded gun directly at him.

The victim and another family member repeatedly told Aviles to put the gun down, and after a brief argument, she eventually complied, police said.

Police recovered a loaded Sig Sauer P232 from the scene. On July 21, Aviles turned herself in and was processed and arraigned by Judge Wertman, who set bail at $100,000 unsecured.

Police have charged Aviles with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, simple assault, and harassment.
